CARNATACA LANGUAGE. 167 pasaron No u Vätlinumitra caused Déradatta to lie dozen through the means of Yagnadatta. When active verbs are rendered causal, the person whom the principal agent causes to act, is put in the instrumental case; as 235 wa magas avataus reikia w Déradurta caused Vishnumira to build a house. A very few of the active verbs, when rendered causal, require the nominative of the verb in the active form to be used in the accusative case; and a few other verbs of the same kind, require the dominative of the verb in the active forn to be changed either into the accusative or instrumental case ; as reg no ca t agatizat. Baita at the couherd caused the cattle to arrive at the house ; esitada jarayoniga oz or podlago o mo smugiau Did the tutor caused his scholar to read granımar ; & a fuo na స్నవన్నుథ్ దరస the mother caused her child to eat victuals. All active and causal verbs may be rendered passive. When the active perbs, and neuter causal verbs that have become active, are used in the passive sense, the agent is put in the instrumental case, and the object acted upon by the verb is put in the nominative, with which the verb must agree in number, person, and gender ; as శృష్ణ నింద శంసను సందరి సల్పట్టను Camsa was killed by Crisina ; డులియింద శుదు శిశదరిసల్పట్టరు the horse reas frightened by a tyger. In exception to this rule it is to be remarked, that when the active verbs which carry transitibo upon two different objects are repdered passive, the principal object of the verb is put in the nominative, and the other must be in the accusative case ; as w at moooooN mO nja I nosos Togelow the king was asked by the bramin for a village. If causal verbs formed from active and neuter verbs, are used in a passive sense, both the principal agent who causes, and the person by whom the action is done, are put in the instrumental case; as oy dodaw na orta auf der Files 1 sau Digitized by Google
